My first mural

I made my first mural in early June. My aunt's neighbors, a couple from Turnhout, wanted a drawing for above their low sideboard in the living room and they liked my style. After doing some research and watching YouTube videos, I hit the train with my backpack full of acrylic paint, cups, paper tape and brushes.

I had been given a theme and a color palette : a mix between nature and city, with a place for their two cats and all in the blue of the fabric chairs and the green of the plants above the table. Before I started I made a few proposals for the composition and once they were approved I could get to work.

DAY 1 - With the help of a projector, I was able to draw the big lines on the wall in pencil. Then I began the first large areas of color.

DAY 2 - The second day was for the rest of the color areas and details on the houses and trees. I had bought 8 tubes of acrylic paint in the right shades, this way I didn't have to mix my colors and could immediately continue working in the same colors from the previous day. Once in a while I get a visit from the cats who curiously tripped by.

DAY 3 - Last day! Time for the best part : flowers! I first hesitated about detailing with black acrylic marker, but then just went for it. This way the two characters are just a little more visible and the cats now have a happy snout.

It was a very educational experience for which I am enormously grateful to Hans and Isabel. The first day it felt like I needed more reassurance than they did. But they made me work with complete confidence and the result is great, even if I say so myself.... :)

The only thing I would do differently next time : bring snacks. Because painting makes you hungry!
