Types of Live Painting

Couple Portrait: A Work of Art to Last a Lifetime (700€)

A unique painting of you as a couple, created with watercolor and ink based on a photo taken during your wedding. The painting is created live during the reception and will be finished before the end of the evening, so you can admire it that very same day.

The rate for an A2 size (42 × 50 cm) is €700, excluding travel expenses.

Live painting of the ceremony: "I do" painting (starting at €400)

The live painting of your wedding ceremony is a one-of-a-kind piece, created with watercolor and ink right there on the spot. I set up my easel half an hour before the ceremony begins to make an initial sketch of the venue. As soon as the guests have arrived, I begin sketching the outlines and painting, capturing the atmosphere of the ceremony and the small details that make it unique.

At the end of the ceremony, I’ll finish the painting right there on the spot. Your guests can come take a look during the reception. And an hour later, you’ll receive an original work of art, created especially for you, that will preserve the emotion of this day forever.

The rate for an A3 size (30 × 42 cm) is €400, not including travel expenses.

For a larger piece, I can also paint your ceremony on A2-size paper (42 × 59 cm) for €700, not including travel expenses.

Carefully Selected Materials

When I go out to paint, I never leave home without my Van Gogh watercolors, which are made with high-quality pigments that allow me to paint with intense colors. Most of the colors fall into the highest lightfastness category (lasting more than 100 years under museum conditions).

I use thick, high-quality ARCHES watercolor paper (100% cotton, 300 g/m²) as my canvas. The cotton gives the paper its natural beauty and whiteness. It is acid-free and has been treated to prevent mold growth.

A frame for your painting

The price also includes a frame that matches the painting, ready to be hung in your home or placed on a table during the party. This way, your guests can watch the artwork take shape gradually and admire the final result at the end of the ceremony.

I'm traveling for your party

Travel expenses are not included in the service fee. I am based in Paris and Leuven (Belgium). For travel by car, the rate is €0.40 per kilometer, plus any tolls.

For events more than 150 km away, travel expenses are calculated based on the distance traveled. I prefer to take the train whenever possible. Accommodations and a meal must also be taken into account.

My services are not subject to VAT, in accordance with Article 293 B of the French Tax Code (Code général des impôts).

FAQ

Can I order a live painting after the party?

Yes! If you’d like to preserve a painted memento of your wedding, you can also order a watercolor painting based on your wedding photos. This way, you can have a scene from your ceremony, your first dance, a family moment, or simply an image that’s close to your heart painted.

As a guest, can I give a live painting as a gift?

Yes! It's actually a wonderful gift idea for the bride and groom. Please contact me to see if I'm available on the wedding date.

How long does a live painting session last?

For a live painting on-site, you should expect it to take between 2 hours and 30 minutes and 5 hours. The duration depends, among other things, on the chosen format, the level of detail in the architecture and the elements in the scene, and the working conditions on-site.

Can I choose the painting style?

My painting style is an integral part of my artistic world and cannot be altered. Therefore, every painting is created in my own style, using watercolor and ink. However, we will discuss your preferences in advance so that together we can choose the scene, the important details, and the atmosphere you’d like to see reflected in the painting.

Can guests come watch while you're working?

Absolutely! Live painting isn't just a keepsake—it's also a live performance that unfolds right before your guests' eyes.

They can come watch the painting take shape and see the scene gradually come to life on the paper. At the end of the ceremony, they can also come admire the finished work.

Do I need to provide a photo?

That depends on the service you choose.

Regarding the "couple portrait" option: Yes, I'll need one or more reference photos of the bride and groom in order to depict them.

Regarding the "ceremony painting" option: No, I create the painting right there on the spot, by observing the scene and the people present.

Where are you going to stand to paint?

For the couple's portrait, I'll work with you to choose a spot that gives me a nice view of the bride and groom and the backdrop you want to capture.

For the ceremony painting, I need to be close enough to the action to observe the details and facial expressions, while remaining discreet and not getting in the way of the bride and groom, the guests, or the photographers and videographers. I usually set up my easel to the side or slightly to the back, in a spot where I have a good view of the entire scene.
